Big on Health - New Scheme
24/05/2010

Workplaces have a key role to play in improving the health and quality of life of their employees. Smaller businesses employ the largest percentage of the workforce and are in a position to play a key role in improving the health of the nation.

Being pro-active in promoting health in the workplace can result in:

• Reduced stress
• Less absences and accidents
• Staff feeling empowered
• Better working relations
• Improved corporate image
• Less staff turnover
• More productive staff.

All of which are good for your bottom line!

The Health Promotion Officer – Workplaces, within NHS Ayrshire & Arran has developed a new scheme to support health promotion actions in the small workplace and is currently looking for workplaces across Ayrshire & Arran who have up to 50 employees to take part in piloting the scheme.

Workplaces will be supported to participate and will be offered information on what their involvement will entail before agreeing to take part. The new scheme will assist in identifying the areas of health most important to employees and offer ideas and support to promote staff health around these areas.

There is no cost associated with participating in the scheme and the Health Promotion Officer – Workplaces will offer ongoing contact through face-to-face meetings, email and telephone.
