BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT? AYRSHIRE HAS!
02/06/2009

The spirit of the Challenge is to promote citizenship, interaction, team building, networking and health and therefore at the event ABIC were delighted to welcome health promotions teams from KA Leisure and NHS to promote a variety of initiatives including, general health, smoking cessation, sexual health and to promote the Healthy Working Lives Award for businesses. In addition, 2 local street nurses walked the pitches to provide guidance and advice to participants and spectators.

Lesley Craig, Ayrshire Business in the Community said, It was great to see so many Teams out on the grass pitches enjoying themselves in the early evening sunshine. There were no serious injuries which demonstrates the good sportsmanship of the Teams. The staff at Kilwinning Community Sports did a fantastic job as the event went very smoothly and the Health Promotions staff were on hand to provide insightful information on a variety of topics and I know the goody bags were well received by both players and spectators.

The two top teams battling for first place were Rashillhouse Contracts and Microtech. After the final match Rashillhouse were defeated and therefore the 2009 winners of the Ayrshire Business in the Community Football Challenge were Microtech – congratulations and well played!

Presenting the winning Team with their trophy along with Lesley Craig was Colin Hunter, Development Officer (and player) of Kilwinning Community Sports Club. Colin added, “Kilwinning Community Sports Club promotes the development of sport and healthy living and we are delighted to be able to offer this challenge in partnership with Ayrshire Business in the Community”.
