CSR & Save the Children

Save the Children cares profoundly about changing children's lives for the better. They believe that they can form effective strategic partnerships with the corporate sector to tackle issues of social responsibility. They aim to work with companies to help develop business policy and practice in a way that is practical and sustainable, but recognise that developing socially responsible business practice is highly complex, especially for large multinationals. They welcome the opportunity to talk to those who take this issue seriously.

Save the Children have produced a pack to help committed business make a tangible impact on some of the major challenges facing poor children around the world.

SUMMARY OF ABiC SCHEME:

The requirements of the scheme are that:

  • The scheme is open to all businesses irrespective of sector, company size or available resources
  • The emphasis of the scheme is on benefits to the business and the community
  • The scheme is progressive and aims to encourage continuous improvement
  • The process is simple and easy to follow
  • There is little or no cost, to the participating company associated with the process of the scheme
  • Local capacity is used for assessment
  • Linkages are established to other national standards

There are similar awards schemes, which fail to meet the requirement of Ayrshire Business in the Community, in that they do not offer an introductory level award; are single awards which lack progression from a basic level or are somewhat exclusive and cater for a particular size of company. As a result, Ayrshire Business in the Community have filled this gap with our recognition scheme, which provides recognition for all sizes of companies.
